DIY Beauty Recipe: How to Make A Face Scrub with Sugar
In this tutorial, we learn how to make a face scrub with sugar. This is a simple delicious scrub that will exfoliate dead skin cells, revive dull skin, help to prevent blemishes and reveal smoother, brighter skin. I am a fan of using sugar as an exfoliant because it has finer grains that is less irritating to the skin as commercial scrubs.
Exfoliating should be part of any basic beauty regimen at least on a weekly basis. It helps to accelerate the removal of dead skin cells and other gunk that has piled on the skin surface.
The skin is comprised of several layers and typically sheds the outermost layer every 28-45 days. Exfoliating simply helps the skin to speed up the gunk shedding process and can help with a lot of skin issues like blemishes, black spots, dullness and the works.
How to make a face scrub with sugar in two simple steps:
What you need:
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 1 cup Baking soda
- 2 tablespoons Honey
- 1 teaspoon Olive oil and any of your favorite natural oil (optional)
- A small container
To use:
I simply combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl. I sometimes add a pinch of water to improve the consistency.
Next, I take about a tablespoon of the mixture and slowly apply it to my face in a gentle and circular motion focusing on the problem areas. I continue this until the granules of the brown sugar have completely absorbed into the skin. Then I wait about five to ten minutes and rinse off with cool water.
Here’s a Tip: I sometimes steam my face after applying the scrub to allow for better penetration of the yummy goodness.
After rinsing, my skin usually feels incredibly soft and smooth. Package any leftovers in a tightly sealed container and refrigerate but not for more than a week.
