We’ve all heard the saying ‘you are what you eat’ but how far does this actually go?

Whatever you put in your body, will show, so basically eat bad, look bad.

Top models celebs and beauty queens are well known for having beautiful skin. They are more likely to eat rich, superfoods, drink loads of water and fill their system with all the goodness they can get, whilst making sure they also eat low calorie food, to keep those beautiful figures trim!

So what sort of food do you want to aim for to maximize you beauty from the inside out?

A list of superfoods to get your skin glowing:

Wild salmon

A prime source for omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce skin inflammation, prevent redness, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and blemishes. It is also an effective source of antioxidants which protects the skin from free radicals that can damage skin tissue.

Low-fat yogurt

The biggest benefit from yogurt are calcium. Calcium is known to strengthen the bones as well as teeth, hair and nails. Did you know one cup of plain low-fat yogurt has more calcium than a glass of skimmed milk, and half the fat content!

Oysters

These are the best source of zinc. Ever! Zinc is what creates collagen in our bodies so it plumps lips and skin and keeps us looking fresh and young instead of old and tired.

Blueberries

Full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents that prevent long-term cell damage, and help speed up the healing process of spots and inflammation.

Kiwi

Another amazing cradle of antioxidants, kiwis are also a fab source of vitamin C and potassium, all of which help fend off wrinkles in the future.

Sweet potatoes

Chock-a-block with beta-carotene, which our bodies use to convert to vitamin A, which keeps skin smooth and radiant and helps to naturally ward of sun damage.

Spinach

The nutrient filled leafy green is almost solid beta-carotene and lutein, both of which protect the eyes. It’s fat free yet full of protein and helps to rebuild damaged skin cells. It is also a great source of iron so helps keep you healthy and full of vitality on the inside, which will glow outwards.

Tomatoes

These are probably the only fruit/veg which is best cooked. The longer they’re left to stew and are cut up, the more of their goodness is released. They’re full of lycopene which is a strong antioxidant which is proven to fight sunburn, create a natural immunity to mosquito bites, and improve bags under your eyes A winner!

Walnuts

A key source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. The omega-3s found in walnuts also help fight against skin ailments like psoriasis and eczema.

Dark chocolate

Full of antioxidants and nutrients, dark chocolate increases blood flow to the skin, keeping you looking full of vitality and healing an blemishes, it also boosts hydration and protects against sun exposure.

This doesn’t mean any old chocolate though, a Kinder Surprise won’t really cut it. Healthy dark chocolate should be at least 60% cocoa and shouldn’t be eaten in abundance!

By putting the right things inside your body you’re bound to feel better from the inside as well as the out. Eating right can help increase sleep and rest which also means you’ll look healthier and fresher. Obviously these foods are all super healthy so if you choose these instead of your usually spread then you’ll most likely drop a couple of pounds improving your overall figure.
