As someone with very oily, acne-prone skin, a good facial cleanser is a must-have for me. Having tried almost every cleanser under the sun, I found that tons of cleansers did one of two things: the ones made especially for oily skin left my skin looking dry and leathery while my face still appeared oily… (not a good look). While the others I feel did not give my face the deep cleaning it needed. Ultra Glow black soap has been the answer to my dilemma and has since been my HG facial cleanser

My review of Ultra Glow Black Soap

Several years ago, I was introduced to Ultra Glow Black Soap through a friend of a friend and after the first use, I was hooked. On the night I used the soap, I had several stubborn whiteheads on my forehead and cheeks and literally like magic, the morning after about 80% of them had vanished. I’d never had a cleanser work like that on my skin. The interesting thing is that I’d used raw, organic black soap in the past and I honestly found them too drying and irritating to my skin.

The Ultra Glow soap left my skin feeling clean but not dry and after several years of use, it continues to be consistent. I still cannot believe that something so inexpensive and basic has worked so well for me. The main con about this soap are the ingredients, as it does have sodium tallowate, sodium cocoate and propylene glycol which I am absolutely not a fan of. I am looking for a more natural cleanser that works in the same manner and would love some recommendations. Until I find a more natural alternative or with better ingredients, it’ll remain in my beauty must haves.

-sodium tallowate is just animal tissues combined with sodium hydroxide to turn it to a solid, or ya know, soap form. Its what they call true soap and have been doing this since the time of Jesus.
-sodium cocoate is the fancy term for a simple product made from coconut oil.
-propylene glycol yes it is a synthetic, however is water salable and is a non carcinogen, there are many scholastic articles on this component with labs done on rats for many years feeding it to them 5x a day and no health changes (yes I know that its terrible to do experiments on animals but I’m just sharing info, not personally testing animals lol)

I really appreciate your article, I have moderate acne and was recommended black soap, I suggest using Dr. Woods Pure Black Soap, maybe the ingredients are more to your taste? I hope this evaluation of the ingredients helped you! Thanks for your blog post it really is a great, honest review!
